22 "I'faith 'tis an excellent bonfire!" quoth he,
23 "And the country is greatly obliged to me,
24 For ridding it in these times forlorn
25 Of Rats that only consume the corn."
4.It is foreshadowing that Bishop Hatto will die soon.
5. Because they could have been hungry and just wanted to eat something or the other so they just went and ate up Hatto picture. Or they just hated him so much so they ate him to signify saying 'bye bye Hatto'.
6. Maybe he was scared that after seeing the poor people he might have got frighten about their behavior as they might chase him next because he burned them so they will be in full charge to attack him to get sweet revenge.
7. It might mean that the Bishop saw the two eyes of death or the two eyes of or evil. the two eyes of evil might be that he saw devil and he or she came thinking that he deserves a punishment for burning the poor people.
8. it is just a reverse psychology because rats are usually scared but in this it is cats scared. I think this is because he wants to add some contrast to make the story different and interesting.
9. Maybe that god or someone has set up a hard and challenging path for Bishop Hatto to climb up to stay safe in the Rhine tower. Which means that this might be foreshadowing showing that the gods are ready to kill him and are near him like it said in the stanza 13 where it said that the two eyes of flame which might have meant god or the devil
10. Bishop Hatto started of the story kid because he 'allowed the people to have his corn' but from then on he starts to become so mean and crazy by calling poor people rats and escaping and burning them in fire is not nice. Overall bishop hatto is a half good half mean.
11. It start off quite like it is the beginning of a disaster and then as it gradually slow and then it gets faster because all off a sudden the 'rats' start to chase Hatto when hatto runs off to the Rhine in the countryside in Germany. and then finally the much awaited death when the rats go into his flesh of his bones and then finally dies. The most exiting bit starts when the people start to enter the Rhine. And it is gruesome after that.
